Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 28-ounce can tomato soup
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Grilled Cheese Croutons:

  • 4 slices sandwich bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese

Instructions
 

  • Sauté onion in butter until soft; add garlic. Stir in canned soup, broth, basil, and sugar. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Stir in heavy cream and let simmer for 5 more minutes.
